Going on vacation to Someday Isle (I’ll)

I just listened to a great workshop with Brian Tracy and he was talking about setting goals. We all have goals whether or not we formalize them by writing them down or proclaiming them on New Year’s day. The majority of people even want the same things — to be healthy, happy, rich, thin, attractive to the opposite sex, etc.
Often there is a certain excitement about getting all the things we want in life to begin with, but then something happens. As Brian said, “We decide to go on vacation to “Someday Isle (I’ll)”.
Someday I’ll change my eating habits and be healthier. Someday I’ll change my attitude and be happier every day. Someday I’ll exercise so I can be thinner. Someday I’ll make an effort to improve my daily appearance so that I can attract a partner for a romantic relationship.
We all like to go on vacation. But eventually if we want to truly live our life to its fullest potential, we come back home to reality and take action. Someday passes with time whether or not we take action. So start now and create the life you keep talking about.
Accept the timing

“Observe due measure, for right timing is in all things the most important factor.”
— Hesiod (~ 800 BC)
I have been a student of intent for quite a while now. What does that mean? Well, I have been reading and studying the fine art of manifesting exactly what I want in my life with the help of quite a few of the great masters in the world of self-creation. Do I have everything in my life exactly as I want it now? Yes, and no.
I have obtained a level of satisfaction and gratitude for my life exactly as it is in the present moment. The biggest lesson has been wanting things to happen sooner than later. I still have to remind myself that things will come to be exactly when they are meant to be. So I have to let go.
That does not mean that I begin to procrastinate on working toward my goals. It does not mean I am continually forcing myself forward, either. It simply means I have to stay centered and accept what comes my way when it comes my way. And in the meantime, I will enjoy the ride and the uniqueness of each new moment in my life.
A long quote that says it well…

Here’s a bit of “tough love” for you. I am simply going to quote Dr. Robert Anthony completely for today’s inspiration because he says it so well.
“If you feel that you were off to a good start but are currently stalled, you need to admit to yourself that you have probably slipped back into your comfort zone.
More than likely you have been deceiving yourself that you are making progress, but at the same time you are really not getting anywhere.
What you need to do is take action. Even if it is a very small action.
Nothing you can tell yourself, nothing you can say to others, nothing you can think or feel or imagine is going to get you out of the mental bog you’re mired in.
The only thing that can rescue you is - to take that next step.
Maybe you know what that is. If you know exactly what it is, DO IT!
If you don’t know, or aren’t sure, allow you intuition to guide you. Do whatever you feel compelled to do, but do it NOW to get yourself going again — even if it means entering. . .
. . . your discomfort zone.
– Dr. Robert Anthony
Keep on moving

“Man improves himself as he follows his path; if he stands still, waiting to improve before he makes a decision, he’ll never move.” — Paulo Coelho
Indecision, procrastination, creative block, laziness; it doesn’t matter what you want to call it, it all amounts to the same thing — nothing gets accomplished. Oh, don’t get me wrong. I understand fully what it’s all about. I’ve been there before plenty of times myself. I have used many excuses — some more legitimate than others — for not moving forward.
But there comes a moment when you have to realize and tell yourself (because for some reason it usually doesn’t work when someone else tells you) that if you just keep waiting for that something to happen, or that idea to come, or hey what about maybe just winning a lottery instead, you will never actually move forward in your life.
As simple and yet as difficult as it may seem, the best course of action when you come to inaction is ACTION. As you move along your path you will either stumble upon the missing pieces or they will find you along the way. The main thing is you are always improving if you keep moving forward because there is always something to learn along the way.
Is it perfectionism or procrastination?

“A good plan violently executed today is far and away better than a perfect plan tomorrow.”
— Tecumseh Sherman
How many of us have goals we want to accomplish this year? How many of us have “To Do” lists plastered on our fridges? Now the bigger question. How long have these things been waiting to get done? Do not wait until all the conditions are perfect to begin. Beginning makes it all perfect.
Harv Eker has a great quote for this: “Ready, Fire, Aim”. Make a plan, do it, and make the necessary adjustments and corrections en route. Things will most likely come up that you didn’t plan for anyway, so go for it and come up with the answers when you need them.
Completing your goals, projects, tasks, chores will bring you more than a sense of satisfaction. It will actually bring you peace and it will bring you energy. It doesn’t matter what the size of the task is. When you keep putting it off, it tends to rob you of your energy, both mentally and emotionally.
Start with the smaller items on your list that you have been neglecting. Just starting will give you power and set the rest in motion.
