Be patient with yourself

First, learn to be patient with yourself

“Learn the art of patience. Apply discipline to your thoughts when they become anxious over the outcome of a goal.

Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and failure. Patience creates confidence, decisiveness, and a rational outlook, which eventually leads to success.”
— Brian Adams

patience
Impatience is the same thing as not living in the NOW. If you are focusing on future outcomes, you cannot be fully appreciating all the wonderful things happening to you in the present moment.

The best place to start practicing the art of patience is with yourself. Once you’ve been able to see some effective positive results, then you can practice patience with your spouse, family, friends, and whomever or whatever you come across in your daily journey.

Making change stay

“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life. It goes on.”
— Robert Frost

Improvement and change occur when you do things repeatedly and consistently. Stopping and starting all the time will kill any of the momentum you need to succeed. Find ways to keep yourself on track and motivated. It is easy to create reasons not to stick to your goals. We get sick, we get tired, we have to travel, we get discouraged, we are stressed.

Here are some tricks to staying motivated and keeping change consistent in your life:
• Be reasonable with your goals by not taking on too much too quickly.
• Write your goals down in your calendar and make them as big a priority as every other appointment you have.
• Find support near by — a friend, a spouse, even a virtual computer buddy to keep you on track.
• Keep things fun — when it’s fun, it’s that much easier to do.
• Keep a journal so you can see your progress.

Rochelle Sparrow and Courtney Kane are now presenting their joint talents to help empower you along your path. Rochelle psychically trance channels information to help you shift into greater clarity while Courtney paints the energy within your aura. Together, they present information to help you gain fulfillment in your life’s journey.

Cortney Kane:

As a small girl, I often saw messages in dreams that would later touch my life. When I was 15 my mother passed away and about a week after her death, she came to visit me in a dream. Since then I have had many interactions with family members and friends who have passed on.

My interest in the paranormal and spiritual world peaked in my late teens. I have always been a creative person and about 4 years ago I had this unexplainable urge to paint. With no formal training I started to hand paint the visions that were coming to me. The visions I receive are auras, guides, angels and energy. With this art I am able to help others become more aware of their energy.

We all have an inherent need to know our purpose and place in the universe and I hope to contribute to your understanding.

City of Angels

“When the mind withdraws into itself and dispenses with facts it makes only chaos.”
— Edith Hamilton

cityofangels

I watched a movie the other night that was very touching and inspiring — City of Angels. It gave an interpretation of how angels interact with us here on Earth. There were two main messages that I received: Even if we can’t see them, angels are here with us at all times to help us through our challenges if we just listen; Even though we might receive guidance and inspiration from our angels, we have free will and therefore it is up to us to choose what we do in the end.

In the midst of a challenging situation or a crisis, it is often more difficult to translate which thought is our own and which is inspired. And often when we are not in a healthy state of mind, it is far easier to listen to the madness of our egos than the simplicity of our angels. But I urge you to try to distinguish between the two. Listen to the guidance not the chaos. Help is there for our taking. Clarity and direction will be given if asked.

BTW: City of Angels is one of my favorite movies!

Create Yourselfl Daily

— George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)

We start early in life saying certain things about ourselves, such as? I’m a shy person, or I’m intelligent, or I’m stupid, or I’m clumsy, or I’m slow, etc. At this point in our life, we can begin to understand the power of words and of the mind. We can come to the realization that all of these statements were creating self-fulfilling prophecies.

We have the power to be whoever we choose to be and however we choose to be. If you have instilled in your life that you are patient, then you have affirmed yourself into being that way. Conversely, if you’ve been saying repeatedly for decades, “I’m impatient”, that’s where you will find yourself now. But you can change all that on a daily basis starting today.

Each morning when we wake up, we have a new day ahead of us to be whatever we choose and act however we want. We can create ourselves daily. Consciously choose to let go of old resentments, grudges, habits, and fear, and fill the void with all positive and loving ways of being and growing. The power is in your words and in your mind.

Make the first move

“Feeling grateful to or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life.”
— Christiane Northrup, M.D.

We say we want love, yet we are afraid to give love for fear of getting hurt. We say we want friendship, but we forget to be kind to those around us. Personal relationships are as important to us as the air we breathe. We all need friends, lovers, companions, people with whom we can share our joys, sorrows, fears, and successes.

These relationships help us grow at our deepest levels and yet often we remain distant and detached from one another, unable or unwilling to reach out and make meaningful contact. We need to take the risk and explore the possibilities that exist in human interaction. Make the first move. Treat others the way you want to be treated and you will find that like will attract like.

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you were to ask someone what would make them happiest in life, a large majority would most likely give answers like: “Spending more time with my kids”, “Having more free time to go out with friends”, “Getting the garden looking like I’ve always dreamed it would”, “Going out to camp, or fish, or travel”. These are the things that make our body, mind, and soul feel complete.

Strangely enough, the same people who gave these answers are the same ones that are working 24-7 to get the bigger house, more expensive car, and the bigger title. Which means they don’t have the time for their kids, friends, garden, camping, fishing, or traveling.

If you find that you too are stuck in this self-deceiving cycle, write down the things that would truly make you happy and post them someplace that you will see them constantly as a daily reminder to what really counts in your life. Start living true to your inner guidance for happiness.

Try something new

— William Arthur Ward

Sometimes the saying, “Old habits are hard to break” is truer than you can or want to believe. You promised yourself that you were going to change your ways, not fall into the same traps. But here it comes again and you just can’t seem to stop it from happening.

Give yourself a break. We all know that it’s not easy to change. Especially when you have been doing something one way for so long — for some it might even be a lifetime. Coming down on yourself with blame and self-loathing will not help the situation, and will more likely reinforce whatever negative, fear-based pattern you were trying to change in the first place.

When this happens, it is important that you recognize the old patterns. Catch yourself, even in mid-flight. Then try something new. Try not to let it continue or end like it always did before. Throw yourself a curve and before long your habits won’t know what to expect the next time they try to creep up into your life.

Recharging your body, mind, and soul

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”
— John Muir (1838-1914)

Most of the people I know would agree with me when I mention that getting away from the city and surrounding oneself with nature is one of the best ways to recharge the body, mind, and soul. It is my best prescription for relief of everyday stress.

But also, just like most people I know, it isn’t always that easy to get away to recharge as often as I would like. So my solution is to take mini nature breaks by just getting outside for walks around the block soaking up as much “fresh” air as possible, and looking at the well-thought out gardens along the way.

Just a little bit of nature everyday can help to balance out the surge of technology that we are faced with most days. Treat yourself with a daily dose of nature — walk, look out the window, or even get a few plants in your office space. It doesn’t take much, but it will have wonderful benefits for your body, mind, and soul in the long run.

And on the more serious side of things — we are quickly forgetting as a society the importance of nature with our energetic balance. More and more children are plopping themselves in front of digital media to experience life, when they really would benefit from running around in a forest.

Here are some books on the importance of aligning yourself and your children with nature again.
