Do whatever needs to be done

“Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice.”
— Wayne Dyer
As I note people’s day-to-day moods, I have to come to the conclusion that this quote is very true. When someone is miserable, you can almost hear this conversation going on in their head — actually deciding whether or not they want to stay that way a little longer, or to just shake it off and move along to something better.
They chose to move on to something better.
They were miserable one moment, then the next they weren’t. Did the circumstances change? Nope. Only their attitude about their situation did. And funny enough, because their attitude changed, the problems that they labeled the cause of their misery also seemed to change somehow. They suddenly seemed lighter, less important. Or at least other things seemed more important.
They have now begun to focus on positive constructive ways to alleviate the situation that was bringing them down. That was their choice all along.
Fear: Part Two

“Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.”
King Whitney Jr.
We now have the power to change our fears into powerful tools of healing. How do we go about ensuring that we are successful in our attempts to improve our life situation? It is all dependent on the type of fear that was holding us back in the first place. But here are some basic guidelines to conquering your fears and making change a challenge we can enjoy based on The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, by Dr. Joseph Murphy:
• Fear is a negative thought in your mind. Replace it with a constructive thought each time you catch yourself being fueled by your fear.
• Love chases away fear. It is an emotional attachment to all the good things in life. Love yourself. Expect nothing but the best for yourself, and without fail only the best will come to you.
• Create an affirmation based on the complete opposite of your fear. Whenever you feel overwhelmed by your fear, repeat the affirmation over and over until you feel in control again.
• You can overcome fear when you realize the power of your subconscious mind can change all conditions and therefore you have complete control over your life.
• Remember the things you fear do not really exist except as thoughts in your mind. The power is within you. Focus only on the good and the good will come to you.
Fear - Part 1

“Fear is a question: What are you afraid of, and why? Just as the seed of health is in illness, because illness contains information, your fears are a treasure house of self-knowledge if you explore them.”
—Marilyn Ferguson
In my opinion, fear has to be the most powerful emotion. It can be so controlling that it can prevent just about anyone from really living. It is also very deceptive because most people don’t even know they are being controlled by it. Think about all the ways fear can affect you: fear of intimacy, fear of isolation, fear of commitment, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of moving forward, fear of letting go, fear of getting hurt, fear of not living, fear of living, fear of heights, fear of water. I mean, it can morph into any shape or form that we allow it.
There again is the key. How are we allowing fear to control our lives? Yes, we do have the ability to choose whether or not we let fear rule our lives. It can be a powerful tool of self-discovery when we are honest with ourselves and first recognize that we have fear-controlled issues. Fears are usually not random but are actually very connected to deep rooted events, issues, and emotions. Look your fear in the face and ask it why it is here. Listen to the real answer and you will have the next steps to take in your healing journey.
Brand new endings

“Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” — Carl Bard
As we continue this journey together, I hope you understand at this stage that it makes no difference where you’ve been in the past. What truly matters from this moment on is where you are going. So the obvious question is, do you know where you’re headed?
Inspired by the lyrics from the song “Unwritten” by Natsha Bedingfield, I know that the best is yet unwritten in my life. We have the the ability to start from now and make the ending whatever we desire.
What are you doing with your time here?

“If we were born knowing everything, what would we do with all this time on this earth?”
— Nelly Furtado
Is our life the destination or is it the getting there? This is a question that some might enjoy debating, but one thing is certain — life itself is one of the longest trips we will ever take on this earth. So it might be best to pick a good way to travel while you are at it.
Are you living where you want to live, with the people you want to live with, doing what you want to really do? If not, when do you think it will be time to make the connecting flight to the real destination?
When we get to the end of our voyage, there may not be the time, nor the means to do anything about the rest of the trip. So make the decision to travel your way right now. It is your trip after all.
It’s in you right now!

“I have learned, that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” — Henry David Thoreau
Every person has been given the tools and answers to actively create their ideal life. That means that whatever you really, really want to do or be, you can do it or be it.
Sometimes, this is just too big to believe because we also have challenges and things that seem to get in our way. But our tools are there to help us overcome those obstacles as well.
And depending on how well we use our tools, or ask the right questions, or follow our inner voice, will determine the directions we take in life. So go for it. Figure out your true inner goals, see what tools you have to help you get there, put together a strategy, and begin to create the life you really, really want to live from this moment forward. It’s in you right now!
Are you waiting for someone to fix it for you?

“I was waiting for someone to fix my life for me, when I realized that if I wanted to be happy, it was up to me to go out and make it happen.” (…or something like that — from Desperate Housewives, Dave Dash/Williams character)
This resonated so much with me last night when I was watching Desperate Housewives… How many of us are waiting for someone to come along and “rescue” us, make us happy, or waiting for that lottery win?
Authentic happiness comes from you creating it. Just like the character Dave said he had to do for himself, you need to train yourself to find the way out, find the positive side of things, create the next steps for your life.
With that you will be putting your life back in your hands and you will have the power to create your life the way you want it to be. “If life is an illusion, why not make it an empowering one?”
Being exactly where you should be
“So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because that’s where you will find success. On the far side of failure.”
— Thomas J. Watson, Sr.
What if wherever you are right now, that is exactly where you should be? I want to suggest to you all that no matter where you are on your path to success, it is all good.
I remember so many things that I learned along the way to my “here and now” and I can use so much of the things that I perceived, at the time, were “not on my path” or “mistakes”.
However, if we take the stance that nothing is a mistake, we can use it all to make ourselves better people at every moment on our journey.

Believing is seeing

“You must understand that seeing is believing, but also know that believing is seeing.” — Denis Waitley
You’ve heard this saying before: “Seeing is believing”. We find it easier to believe what we see with our own eyes. And the same holds true for mental “seeing”. Visualizing a scene or action in your mind tends to make it more real. And therefore as you “see” it, you come to believe in the reality of the image that you have created in your mind’s eye.
This has actually been tested and proven in hospital settings. Two patients both unable to get up to walk, their muscles beginning to atrophy are compared. One is told to visualize himself exercising his muscles every day. At the end of the test period, they are both measured and the one who “saw” himself exercising maintained more muscle tissue, as if he had actually been exercising. His mind didn’t know the difference and therefore his brain sent the messages that he was working out. Amazing!
At first visualization of a goal may seem forced and unnatural. Repeated visualizations, slowly create the belief that the desired goal is possible, then probable, then, finally, a fact.
And once a goal has become real in your mind, once you believe it, it starts to become real in your life. And then you can ACT on it because you have already convinced every cell in your body that this goal is attainable.
