If you haven’t heard the latest scientific research results regarding cell phones and brain cancer… It’s probably because there is a LOT of money invested in you NOT hearing about it…

But slowly, the news is getting out and I wanted to make sure that if you get nothing else out of this, I REALLY hope, that if you have kids, you will not let them use a cell phone! Even if you don’t fully believe the studies (or don’t want to because you LOVE your cell phone), it needs to come down to the question: “Do I want to risk my kid’s health over a gadget?”

So, here’s what the studies are showing now:

- Cell phone radiation (yes, cell phones DO emit radiation — no one is disputing that. The only thing they are disputing is whether or not the level of radiation is ACCEPTABLE or if it is at a DANGEROUS to the health level) disrupts fundametnal physiological and genetic functions in BRAIN and BLOOD tissue leading to problems that range from stress, fatigue, anxiety, attention deficit, autism, and learning disorders, to brain and eye cancer.

- Children and teenagers are at the highest risk because the radiation from the cell phone penetrates deep into the developing brain (Kids have thinner skulls than adults do… so there is not much between the cell phone radiation and the brain / blood vessels).

- Studies of adults show serious health risks after only a few years of cell phone use — no one knows for sure the extent of the damage that will be caused by life-long exposure of our children and teenagers. (Scientists are saying that the amount of time that you can “safely” talk on the cell phone every month is UNDER 2 minutes!!! — How long do you talk? And the reason we don’t know what this really means for our kids is that it is LONG-TERM exposure that builds up the damage… People in Finland — my homeland — have been exposed for about 10 years now and the health damage is just starting to really rear it’s ugly head. Once it gets to the 20 year mark.. who knows what they will finally have to conclude?)

- In 2002 about 40% of 12 year-olds had cell phones.

- In 2004 a study showed that in Buffalo, New York, children between 12 and 17 years old were on the phone over 86 minutes a DAY and over 2500 minutes a month! (Remember what I said above about 2 minutes?)

- Now in 2008 those numbers have increased dramatically: Estimation is that 80 to 90% of teens own cell phones (and we know how much teens like to talk on the phone!)

- And I recently heard the phone companies are planning a new campaign to parents to get their TODDLERS cell phones that can HANG around their necks!!! What the “HECK” do toddlers need cell phones for?? To call for a ride after their trip to the mall??

So it comes down to this: There is technology that is safe to use when you need to make a call — a corded phone. Use your cell phones for emergencies (ie. in the car). And reduce the radiation emitted from your cell phone with proven technology such as cell phone chips. And make the right choice as a parent regarding your child’s cell phone use.
